GENERAL FUNCTION
Reporting to and under the general supervision of the Automotive Equipment Technician Supervisor, this position performs skilled maintenance, diagnostics, repair, and overhaul of the City's fleet vehicles and equipment within the Equipment Services Division of the Public Works & Utilities Department.
The Automotive Equipment Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, including light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles, police and fire apparatus, and other specialized equipment. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting complex electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, and fuel systems, fabricating and repairing components, and ensuring vehicles and equipment are safe, reliable, and available for service.
The incumbent performs assigned duties in a safe, timely, and professional manner; complies with applicable City policies and safety requirements; and collaborates with team members to support the efficient operation and maintenance of the City's fleet.
The hiring range for this position is: $36.11 - $44.16 per hour. This salary includes longevity (1% earned after five years and increases to a maximum of 4% after 20 years).
