POSITION SUMMARY: This risk role in the first line of defense will work within the Community Banking Division to identify systemic issues and control weaknesses and support compliance and operational risk mitigation efforts. This person will work closely with Community Banking’s business units to implement control frameworks and support ongoing risk assessments in alignment with banking laws and internal standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Conduct regular and ad-hoc risk assessments across Community Bank, working with business units to identify potential compliance, operational, and reputational risks.
· Collaborate with product, operations, marketing, and the Bank’s Compliance Officer to ensure regulatory disclosures (e.g., Truth in Savings Act, Regulation DD, Regulation E) are accurate, up-to-date, and properly delivered.
· Monitor and assess compliance with applicable banking regulations, internal policies, and legal requirements affecting deposit accounts, and report results to the Bank’s Compliance Officer.
· Support the design of controls and internal monitoring routines within the Community Bank’s line of business.
· Develop and maintain Community Bank’s risk and control documentation, including risk and control self- assessments, issue logs, and action plans.
· For Community Bank, analyze and report on risk indicators, control gaps, risk events, and operational losses to business stakeholders and the second line of defense Enterprise Risk Management team.
· Act as Community Bank’s point of contact for information requests from Enterprise Risk Management in connection with internal audits and exams.
· Participate in Community Bank’s new product development and change initiatives to help evaluate compliance and risk impacts.
· Monitor and review deposit-related customer complaints to identify potential compliance issues.
· Provide risk and compliance guidance and training to deposit-focused business and operations staff, in consultation with the Bank’s Compliance Officer.
· Monitor and assist with maintaining the Community Banking Division’s assigned vendors through the Bank’s established Third-Party Relationship Management Program.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
· 5-7 years of experience in banking risk and compliance, preferably within the deposit product domain.
· Strong knowledge of relevant banking laws and regulations, including Regulation CC, Regulation DD, Regulation E, UDAAP, and other consumer protection laws and banking regulations.
· Experience with risk frameworks such as risk and control assessments, issue/complaint management, and control testing.
· Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with attention to detail.
· Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Professional certifications such as CERP, CRCM, or CRMA are a plus.
· Effective interpersonal and communication skills

· Consistently operates a computer and other office machinery such as calculator, copy machine and printers.
