The University of Nevada, Reno office of Nevada Online is recruiting for a Video and Multimedia Production Specialist. This is a multifaceted role that offers the opportunity to leverage creativity and technical expertise in support of the Nevada Online website and online classes. Responsibilities include designing, creating, and producing high-quality video and multimedia elements that enhance the online learning experience. This encompasses crafting professional course videos as well as marketing materials. Storytelling and scripting skills are crucial for developing engaging content, while pre- and post-production expertise will be utilized to bring those stories to life. The specialist will share knowledge of media technologies, including interactive digital media, digital imaging, and video technology, to help develop engaging instructional and outreach goals.
Staying fluent in the latest media applications is key to remaining ahead of the curve. The specialist will manage student employees assisting with video production, editing and captioning. This role plays a key part in shaping the online learning experience for Nevada Online students and telling the Nevada Online story to the community at-large. The position reports directly to the Vice Provost of Online Learning.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Consult with instructors and colleagues to understand video content goals and objectives
- Plan video scripts and storyboards
- Operate video cameras, on location or in the lightboard studio, to capture lecture and other content
- Shoot professional-grade original and creative videos with an eye toward composition, lighting and audio
- Develop, plan, and produce a variety of lab, instructional, outreach, and promotional dynamic media projects utilizing a variety of digital media technologies, techniques, and elements (video, audio, graphics, photography, animation, etc.)
- Create appropriate graphics, animations, still images, and other audio/visual elements
- Oversee digital media management software and hardware
- Establish protocols for routine cataloging and archiving of videos, photos, audio recordings, etc.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and two years of related work experience; OR a Master’s Degree and one year of related work experience.
